Product Automator Use Cases: Smartly Organize Products and Collections

Product Automator is our newest app, the sister app to our highly rated Shopify app Order Automator.
This guide shows common ways people use Product Automator to help their Shopify store.

How it works
Create workflows to automate tasks + actions for Product Automator to perform.
We're constantly working to add more features. If it doesn't do what you want out of the box, send us a message with your request and we'll try to make it happen.
🏷️ Auto Tagging
Automatically tag products
Create product tag jobs to add or remove product tags based on the product's attributes.
Optionally create product tag sync jobs to create smart collections.
Examples:
- Create a sync tag job to auto tag products Sale that have a sale price less than compare price
- Make a collection for products tagged Sale for that first example
- Tag products less than 14 days old with New and create a collection called Brand New to showcase brand new products
- Tag all products with the vendor name to help organize them for collections and website filters
📉 Schedule Price Changes
Create a task to update the price of certain products at a specific time
Examples:
- Promote a sale that starts at midnight where all products in a collection get discounted for 24 hours, use Product Automator to automatically make that price change
- Create hourly sales promotions during holidays, discounting select products at 10:00, then other products at 11:00, etc
- Schedule a job to return products on sale to their normal price at a set time
🧠 Create Smarter Collections
Create custom collections on data points not available in regular Shopify collections
Examples:
- Create a True Best Sellers collection to show your best selling products in the past month
- 💰 Great way to create a high conversion rate collection to promote seasonal best sellers
- Create a best selling collection for products with a certain tag, sorting by sales in the last 3 months
- Create a Recently Ordered collection to show items purchased in the last 7 days, call it Trending Now
- Contact us to create your own custom collection
📚 Smart Sort Collections
Use additional sorting methods not available in regular Shopify collections
Examples:
- Set a collection(s) to automatically out of stock items to the end of the collection (can increases conversion rate)
- Create a collection that randomly sorts the products every 30 minutes, can be a fun way to engage with frequent visitors

✉️✉️ Notifications + Reports
Get stock alerts, sales reports, and more
Examples:
- Create stock alerts to notify staff + tag products when inventory is low or out of stock
- Create an alert or action when a product gets back in stock
- Get a weekly report showing the top 10 selling products in your store
- Create a monthly report that shows product sales for a specific vendor, and send to that vendor

Product Automator has a simple interface but a high capacity for customizations.
