Summary of the steps

  1. Install Order Automator and select any plan (this feature is included in the Free plan)
  2. Navigate to the Thank You Page feature in the app
  3. Add a custom message, then Save
  4. In Shopify admin go to Online Store -> Themes -> Customize
  5. Navigate to Checkout -> Thank You page
  6. Click the Apps icon to add an embedded app block, add the Thank You Message block
  7. Now you'll see the message from step 3 showing on your Thank You page. Click save to activate it so it shows to customers after they place a new order
